Sweden accounting compliance requirements

Swedish companies must keep books under the Bokfรถringslagen (Bookkeeping Act), which is supervised by Bokfรถringsnรคmnden and requires accounting records to be archived for seven years, while Skatteverket administers tax filing and payroll reporting. Public sector suppliers have been required to send Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 e-invoices since 1 April 2019 under the Act on Electronic Invoicing in Public Procurement (2018:1277), and B2B e-invoicing remains voluntary as of 2026 pending a national inquiry into EU ViDA rules.
