The Company
Invoice2go is a mobile and web app designed as a simple invoicing, expense-tracking, and reporting tool for micro and small business owners. Invoice2go allows users to create custom invoices and estimates, accept online payments, and get business reports. The software also has features to track time and expenses and manage appointments.
The Story
In 2002 Chris Strode founded Invoice2go out of frustration with the lack of simple invoicing options available. Since launching the company 20 years ago, Invoice2go has grown to become the leader in invoicing software for SMBs. The company processes $24 billion in transactions each year and is used by over 220,000 customers in more than 160 countries.
Their growth didn't go unnoticed, and in 2021, Bill.com completed its acquisition of Invoice2go for approximately $625 million extending the company's reach to serve sole proprietors.
The Idea
From day one Invoice2go was aware of the importance of a seamless integration experience, customers had to be able to sync newly created invoices to their accounting software. That’s why the company invested early on in integrating with Xero and Intuit QuickBooks. After seeing the cost of building integrations in-house increase, the company decided to look for an integrations partner to handle their new integration requests.
When customers asked for an integration with Australia’s popular MYOB accounting software, the team started evaluating multiple accounting integration providers, including Apideck. Having already partnered up with Apideck for their integrations marketplace, the company ultimately settled on Apideck for its unified APIs thanks to Apideck’s holistic approach and no-data architecture.
The Solution
Invoice2Go first built their Apideck integration to go live with MYOB only. Thanks to the extensive documentation as well as Apideck’s authentication solution Vault, the company was able to release the new integration in record time.
Quickly after successfully launching the MYOB integration on the MYOB App Marketplace, the company enabled Apideck’s Quickbooks and Xero connectors on the platform. Thanks to the Unified API approach this didn’t require much additional development effort. This approach allowed Invoice2Go to compare the performance of their natively developed integration versus Apideck’s unified integration.
As soon as it became clear that Apideck’s integrations performed flawlessly the team at Invoice2Go decided to sunset their natively developed integrations and go all-in on Apideck’s unified Accounting API.
