# Intuit Connect 2026: what changes for QuickBooks apps

On 27 October 2026, the second day of Intuit Connect in Las Vegas, Intuit announced "a wave of new innovation fueled by Intuit Intelligence" across its products for businesses and accountants, per its [press release](https://investors.intuit.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/1329/intuit-expands-intelligence-platform-to-power-the-next-era-of-accounting-firm-and-business-growth). The release is written for accountants and business owners, and it doesn't mention APIs or MCP. For developers and SaaS teams who build on QuickBooks, the Intuit Connect 2026 news that matters sits a layer down: QuickBooks now runs inside AI assistants that create records, Intuit is building agents of its own, and Intuit Developer announced a new Premium API and shipped AI tooling in the week before the event.

## QuickBooks inside ChatGPT and Claude

Intuit's [fall 2026 QuickBooks update](https://quickbooks.intuit.com/r/product-update/whats-new-quickbooks-fall-2026/), dated 26 October, lists the AI assistants QuickBooks connects to and gives their status as "beta; ChatGPT and Claude invoicing are GA." The same post brings in three more assistants in beta, among them Gemini in Google Workspace and Muse, from Meta. Users can "draft invoices in plain language," and Intuit says "You review and approve everything before it sends." In a presentation on the second day, Arundhati Singh, Intuit's senior vice president for small business and accountants, said that "you and your client can create QuickBooks invoices, directly in Claude and ChatGPT from live customer data," as [Accounting Today reported](https://www.accountingtoday.com/news/intuit-features-accountants-ai-and-lupita-nyongo).

The write actions themselves aren't new. The QuickBooks app went live in [ChatGPT](https://www.intuit.com/blog/news-social/intuit-apps-launch-chatgpt/) earlier in 2026 and in [Claude](https://www.intuit.com/blog/news-social/intuit-apps-now-available-in-claude/) on 23 April. On 28 July Intuit moved both "beyond read-only access to your data," so users could create and send invoices from the chat, per its [QuickBooks announcement](https://quickbooks.intuit.com/r/news/quickbooks-expands-into-claude-and-chatgpt-with-new-features/). What Connect added is the GA label and the wider list of assistants.

Intuit's [fall release guide for firms](https://digitalasset.intuit.com/render/content/dam/intuit/accountant-channel/en_us/core/fall-26-release-guide.pdf) explains where the assistant gets its context: "AI gathers context from QuickBooks and your client's connected tools ... to complete the requested task." Each payment from an invoice sent through Claude or ChatGPT "is recorded in QuickBooks," the guide says. If your integration syncs invoices and payments out of QuickBooks, expect more of them to be created outside both your app and the QuickBooks UI. Sync on modification time, and treat an invoice that started in a chat like any other.

Partners who want the same tools inside their own agents can't sign up for Intuit's hosted version yet. Intuit's [hosted MCP server](https://github.com/IntuitDeveloper/intuit-3p-ai-pilot) at `mcp.quickbooks.intuit.com/mcp` is an invitation-only pilot for App Partner Program partners, and its repo has been on GitHub since May 2026. Neither the Connect press release nor the fall product posts mention it. It "uses the same OAuth 2.0 authorization flow as the QuickBooks Online REST API," with restricted MCP scopes on top. Intuit "reserves the right to change functionality or charge for any MCP server functionality in the future," and the repo's own advice is "For deterministic, code-driven integrations, continue to use the QuickBooks Online REST API." Our [MCP vs API post](https://www.apideck.com/blog/mcp-vs-api) covers when each fits.

## Agents inside Intuit's own products

The first new feature the release lists for accounting firms is an agent. Agentic Books Close "runs more of the monthly close process automatically, following a firm's own standard operating procedures and tracking actions in an audit log." Intuit lists it as "coming soon" as an add-on to Intuit Accountant Suite and "currently in pilot with select IAS customers." Firm of the Future's [fall update](https://www.firmofthefuture.com/product-update/intuit-accountant-suite-fall-2026-updates/) adds that a paid add-on will be required after the pilot and beta.

The release also says Intuit "is increasingly making its offerings more open and agnostic, integrating with the tools and systems firms and their clients already use." The keynote demos went further, according to the press. Accounting Today quoted Intuit CTO Alex Balazs saying Agent Studio "allows you to capture decades of your expertise" and to "use natural language to actually turn it into an agent," and a [day earlier reported](https://www.accountingtoday.com/news/intuit-plans-bigger-ai-rollout-with-accountants) that Intuit had built the capability for about 20 firms. AccountingWEB [described a demo](https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/tech/accounting-software/intuit-ceo-sets-out-vision-for-ai-powered-accounting) in which "Claude called the Accountant Suite MCP (Model Context Protocol) server to pull data from clients' ledgers and connected apps," and wrote that "The plan is for practices to connect non-Intuit ledgers and apps." We haven't found an Intuit page or an API reference for either, so treat both as announced.

An MCP server for accountants that also reads non-Intuit ledgers would put Intuit Accountant Suite between firms and systems your product may already connect to. If you sell to accounting firms, watch which ledgers and apps Intuit says it will reach.

## Intuit Enterprise Suite editions

For mid-market customers, the release adds industry editions to Intuit Enterprise Suite. Its construction and manufacturing capabilities "are currently in beta," while "multi-currency support and the nonprofit and revenue management capabilities are coming soon." The suite's own release notes already list multi-currency as a beta. Revenue management comes from Sequence, which Intuit [agreed to acquire](https://investors.intuit.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/1327/intuit-to-acquire-ai-native-revenue-management-platform-sequence) on 15 October. Intuit's [fall release notes for the suite](https://erp.intuit.com/blog/product-update/fall-2026-intuit-enterprise-suite-release-notes/) list inventory features such as multi-level bills of materials and construction features such as retainage. None of the Connect material says which of these the APIs will expose. If your integration reads inventory or projects from Intuit Enterprise Suite, check the API reference before you promise customers the new fields. Our [Intuit Enterprise Suite connector post](https://www.apideck.com/blog/introducing-the-intuit-enterprise-suite-connector) covers how the suite relates to QuickBooks Online.

## Intuit Developer news in the week before Connect

On 20 October, Intuit Developer [announced the Sales Order API](https://medium.com/intuitdev/were-excited-to-announce-the-launch-of-the-sales-order-api-giving-you-direct-access-to-create-2d394fe32bf6), a GraphQL API for managing sales orders. It is available to partners on Silver tier and above and needs the restricted scopes `sales.sales-order.read` and `sales.sales-order.write`. Updates replace the line list: "any line present in the stored record but omitted from the update request is deleted," so send every line on every update. Intuit's [general release notes](https://developer.intuit.com/app/developer/qbo/docs/release-notes/general-release-notes) date the API to September 2026, add the delete operation in October and record new limits on GraphQL query complexity in September.

A day later came tooling for developers who work with AI assistants. The [Intuit Developer Plugin](https://medium.com/intuitdev/build-with-intuit-developer-ai-plugin-64a14c40d12f) for Claude, "powered by the Intuit Developer MCP server," sets up an app and a sandbox company from a prompt. Intuit says it is "Sandbox only" and "doesn't make production API calls or generate production keys." The [Solution Center](https://medium.com/intuitdev/introducing-the-solution-center-build-a-complete-quickbooks-workflow-not-just-one-api-call-7233f5e7f8db) packages whole workflows, such as accounts receivable, as accelerators; "Quickstart is open to every tier. All other accelerators are only available with a paid tier."

Partner pricing hasn't changed in anything Intuit has published. The [App Partner Program guide](https://static.developer.intuit.com/resources/Intuit_App_Partner_Program_Guide.pdf), version dated March 2026, still lists monthly program fees from "No charge" on Builder to US$4,500 on Platinum. Builder apps that pass 500,000 CorePlus calls in a month see further CorePlus calls "blocked until the following month," per [Intuit Developer](https://medium.com/intuitdev/understanding-builder-tier-api-limits-for-you-and-your-customers-1dc75733985a). Our [QuickBooks API pricing post](https://www.apideck.com/blog/quickbooks-api-pricing-and-the-intuit-app-partner-program) walks through the tiers. In a [9 October post](https://medium.com/intuitdev/intuit-connect-2026-partner-track-24884bf75156), Intuit Developer said its 28 October Partner Track would cover "FY27 partner commitments" and hands-on time with "our MCP tools," and as of 29 October Intuit hadn't published any of it.

## Building QuickBooks integrations after Intuit Connect 2026

Apideck's [QuickBooks connector docs](https://developers.apideck.com/apis/accounting/quickbooks) list the OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow and say "Apideck-provided credentials are for evaluation and testing; a production integration uses your own Intuit app, so the tier and any fees are yours." Your App Partner Program tier, and with it your access to Premium APIs, is set on your own Intuit app. The same docs note that Apideck's projects resource is served by Intuit's Projects API, a Premium API that only Silver tier partners and above can use.

Build your sync so it picks up invoices and payments that nobody entered in your app or in the QuickBooks UI, because assistants connected to QuickBooks now create them. Keep the code-driven REST path that Intuit recommends for deterministic integrations, and ask Intuit about the MCP pilot only if your product is itself an agent. If QuickBooks is one of several ledgers your customers use, connect it through Apideck's [QuickBooks integration](https://www.apideck.com/integrations/quickbooks) and keep one data model across all of them.
